Neohumanist Education in Bucharest 2011 from Gradinita Rasarit on Vimeo. Namaskar Friends and Sponsors of AMURTEL Romania! In the past weeks we have had several "Open Day" programs - so many, in fact, that after returning from the last one in the Fountain of Hope in Panatau last week - I declared to the staff I would have some "Closed Door" days :-) to recover ... It is exciting and a great relief to see that the programs were very successful and led to many new enrollments for next year! After two years of extreme financial struggle to keep the kgs alive - a hopeful ray of light is dawning on the horizon! It is really Grace - we are not there yet, but things are starting to look a little better. I actually am starting to have more kids than we are prepared for in one of the kgs and may have to start hiring again, after surviving on a minimal staff. So here is a video from our Bucurestii Noi "Gradinita Rasarit" kindergarten that was shown during the program: We also shared samples from our menu (veggie burgers, spinach pie and carob cake) as well as a newsletter with articles written by our teaching staff regarding child development, projects in the kg - and a recipe (my contribution - promoting carob for children as a less stimulating alternative to chocolate). Another satisfaction is that we finally have parents that are starting to come because of the vegetarian menu - for many years this seemed to be something that was an obstacle for those that came - but due to a combination of successful promotion, changing mentalities (and Grace!) - now the majority told that they were particularly attracted to come because of the menu - not despite it. This summer we will be renovating the roof on this kindergarten - the building is older and more deteriorated than the one that we renovated last year (Gradinita Rasarit Mihai Bravu), however unfortunately the financing we were expecting fell through. So we would be grateful for any contributions towards helping us to replace the roof on at least half of the building this summer. The roof is severely leaking in the kitchen (it rains inside when it rains outside) and forming mold - we have to spray it and repaint several times after every rain because we already had an inspection this year that threatened a huge fine and closure of the school. But I am trusting Baba that he will inspire just enough donations to help us keep the structure solid, especially now that it is starting to have more children!
