The construction of the damage buildings has started.
The new kitchen is ready to use, as the previous kitchen is under construction now. We are restructuring the fondation and column of the kitchen and Depot building. This work might take 10 more days to complete. Then we will move to the next plan, i.e the rain water reservoir, boundary wall, gate entrance, roof, and classrooms.
So far all those works are mainly sponsored by AMURT Italy plus a donation received from a volunteer from Germany. Special thanks for them to make it possible.

Introductory Retreat Held at Ananda Vrati

Nineteen people enjoyed an Ananda Marga introductory retreat at Ananda Vrati on April 9-11.

Earth Day Celebrated at Ananda Liina

Around 50 participants enjoyed an afternoon and evening of ecologically oriented programs at Ananda Liina in Urbana, Illinois on Sunday, April 18th. Ananda Liina is a 30 acre eco village which includes an Ananda Marga yoga center, an organic farm, a sprouts factory and family residences. The facilities at Ananda Liina have innovative designs making use of alternative energy and harvesting surface water. Earth Day participants enjoyed a tour of the facilities, a nature walk, a meditation session, a vegetarian dinner and an evening campfire. News from Los Angeles

AMURT and AMURTEL directs a food distribution program in Los Angeles on Fridays, and on Sundays. The food distribution benefits 70-80 families a week with 350-400 people receiving food every Friday and and with150-200 homeless people getting food in the park on Sunday. The program has put Ananda Marga in touch with many people in the LA community and they hope to improve it with fund raising that will enable them to replace their old delivery vehicle.

Ananda Marga has started a new group meditation at Huntington beach and a talk has been given at the Hilton Hotel which will be compiled on a DVD that will be available during the summer retreat at Ananda Kanan.

News from Mexico

A team of Ananda Marga Acaryas visited Morelia and held an introductory program in a local high school and gave a radio interview as well. Several people learned meditation during their stay in Morelia.

In Rio Verde, during a TV interview, it was possible to explain the Ananda Marga system of meditation and yoga, the relief work of AMURT and AMURTEL, and the social ideas of the Progressive Utilization Theory (PROUT).

Their tour finished in Puebla where they gave another radio interview and taught meditation.

On April 22 a relief program was organized in which about 200 people got different things according to their needs. The program was held at the city center hall in Monterrey. More than 200 wheel chair and walkings sticks were distributed to the disable people.

Ananda Marga started a meditation group in a book store of Columbus Ohio.

Peach Farm Awarded a Conservation Grant

The Ananda Marga Peach Farm (Lake Hughes, near Los Angeles) has been awarded a conservation grant from the USDA (U.S Department of Agriculture). It is a two-year contract which covers planting windbreakers, fencing, cover crop and a high tunnel "hoop house." In February the interns at the farm, along with Ananta, built a small green house which is shown here:
